BUFORI launches Geneva in China

Beijing, China, April 23th 2012 – Bufori has launched the Bufori Geneva today for the Chinese market. The car was presented to the media during a press conference at the Beijing International Motor Show, one of the biggest in the industry with around 800,000 visitors expected. The event also marks the first official appearance of the Bufori Geneva in Asia.

The BUFORI Geneva, which was introduced at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show, combines cutting-edge technology with a beautifully proportioned body that exudes presence and style. Positioned in the ultra-luxury saloon segment, the BUFORI Geneva is powered by a high-performance 6.4Lt engine. Electrically closing rear-hinged coach doors, an adjustable air suspension and a luxurious interior provide ultimate comfort and well-being.

The exhibited Bufori Geneva was specially hand crafted for Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay, founder of YTL Corporation and one of Malaysia’s most respected businessmen and a passionate car collector. Not able to decide what to present for the birthday of a man who has already achieved so much in life, Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s family commissioned Bufori to build a car that only existed in one’s dreams. The resulting car is the precursor of the Bufori Geneva Luxury Saloon.

Anthony Khouri, Chairman and Co-Founder of BUFORI, said:

“We are very excited to launch the Bufori Geneva in China today and particularly proud to showcase Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s personal car. The car is a perfect demonstration of the customisation possibilities at Bufori, featuring a Chinese tea set with instant boiling water at the press of a button.”

“We are pleased to offer with the Bufori Geneva a fantastic addition to our model line-up in China. The Beijing motor show is the ideal stage for the launch and we are looking forward to present the car to our distinguished guests”

adds Ms. Jenny Wang, General Manager of Jiaochen Bufori (Shanghai) Motor Sales Co., Ltd.

Gerry Khouri, Managing Director and Co-Founder of BUFORI, commented:

“The Bufori Geneva represents a genuine alternative to the luxury saloon segment. We have created a car for discerning individuals who are passionate about cars but do not wish to identify themselves with a bland mass-produced luxury vehicle. We anticipate a lot of special requests from sophisticated Chinese customers and our team will do their best to fulfil their expectations.”

Made to order for discerning Chinese individuals

As part of the Bufori philosophy, Chinese customers will be able to completely personalise the Bufori Geneva to their exact requirements. An unlimited choice of interior trim colours and combinations, wood veneers, exterior paint colours and combinations as well as specially requested customisations are available to the discerning Chinese individualist, who is only limited by his imagination.

Mr. Andy Xing, Vice Executive General Manager of Jiaochen Bufori (Shanghai) Motor Sales Co., Ltd., explains:

“Our customers appreciate the fine details and workmanship of the Bufori cars and generally spend a lot of time customising their personal vehicles, which becomes like an extension of their unique personalities. They have the opportunity to express their creativity and add their very own personal touch.”

One of the highlights of this luxurious saloon is the rear center console, which can accommodate a coffee machine, mini-bar, fridge and even a fine bone China tea set with instant hot & cold water. Each Bufori Geneva requires in excess of 6,000 man hours to handcraft and customise.

“We are happy to finally introduce the Bufori Geneva to the Chinese market, which has become the most dynamic luxury market on a global scale. Our distributor and customers have been anxiously waiting for the Bufori Geneva and we are convinced that it will surpass their expectations”

Bufori showcases Malaysian automotive craftsmanship at ASEM Trade and Investment Fair in China

Qingdao, China, 2 November 2007 – Malaysian luxury automobile manufacturer Bufori successfully participated in the 2007 Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Trade and Investment Fair on Small and Medium Enterprises, held in Qingdao, China, from 29 October to 1 November 2007.

The company showcased its distinctive Bufori MKIII La Joya at the Malaysian national pavilion organised by the Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC), presenting an example of Malaysian automotive craftsmanship to an international audience of government representatives, business leaders, investors and trade delegates from Asia and Europe.

The exhibition, held at the Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Centre, formed part of a major ASEM initiative aimed at strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation between Asian and European countries, with particular emphasis on the development and internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Organised with the support of the Chinese government, the event provided a platform for companies to showcase their products, technologies and manufacturing capabilities while exploring opportunities for international cooperation.

For the occasion, Bufori presented an elegant MKIII La Joya finished in metallic blue, featuring the model’s distinctive contemporary-classic styling, flowing bodywork, handcrafted detailing and luxurious interior appointments.

Prominently displayed at the SMIDEC Malaysia pavilion, the automobile demonstrated the sophisticated manufacturing capabilities of Malaysia’s specialist automotive sector, highlighting the country’s ability to design, engineer and produce exclusive luxury motor cars for international customers.

The La Joya attracted the interest of visiting delegates and exhibition participants, including government and business representatives who had the opportunity to examine the vehicle and learn more about its distinctive design and manufacturing process.

Gerry Khouri, Founder and Managing Director of Bufori, attended the exhibition, representing the company and engaging with visitors and international delegates during the event.

Bufori’s participation was particularly significant given the exhibition’s focus on small and medium-sized enterprises. Unlike conventional large-scale automobile manufacturers, Bufori operates as an independent, low-volume luxury carmaker, combining specialised engineering, modern manufacturing technologies and traditional craftsmanship.

Established in Australia in 1986 and subsequently relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the company has developed its reputation through the production of individually handcrafted automobiles that offer extensive opportunities for personalisation.

The Bufori MKIII La Joya, whose name means “The Jewel” in Spanish, combines design inspiration from the luxury automobiles of the 1930s with contemporary engineering and technology. Its lightweight composite body, incorporating carbon fibre and Kevlar, and its distinctive two-seater configuration reflect the company’s commitment to creating automobiles that are both technically sophisticated and highly individual.

Each vehicle is handcrafted at Bufori’s manufacturing facility in Kuala Lumpur, where specialist craftsmen and technicians undertake the intricate processes required to create an automobile tailored to its owner’s specifications.

Bufori’s presence at ASEM also reinforced the role of Malaysian small and medium-sized manufacturers in developing internationally competitive, high-value products. The company’s participation illustrated how specialist enterprises can compete in global markets through innovation, product differentiation and craftsmanship rather than mass production.

Following its earlier appearances at international automotive exhibitions in New York, Frankfurt, Shanghai and Dubai, Bufori’s participation in Qingdao represented another opportunity to strengthen awareness of the brand in China and across the wider Asian market.

The event also provided a platform to explore relationships with potential customers and business partners while further promoting Malaysia as a centre for specialised automotive manufacturing.

For Bufori, the exhibition was another step in its international journey, demonstrating that Malaysian craftsmanship and engineering expertise could be represented alongside businesses and technologies from some of the world’s leading industrial economies.

The company’s participation at the SMIDEC Malaysia pavilion reflected its continuing commitment to representing Malaysia on the international stage and establishing Bufori as a distinctive name in the world of handcrafted luxury automobiles.
