Bufori MKIII La Joya makes European debut at Frankfurt International Motor Show

FRANKFURT, 9 September 2003 – Malaysian luxury automobile manufacturer Bufori is making its European debut with the Bufori MKIII La Joya at the 60th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Germany, marking another important milestone in the company’s international expansion.

Following its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show in April, the distinctive two-seater luxury coupé is now being presented to European motoring enthusiasts, industry representatives and the international automotive media at one of the world’s most influential motor shows.

For the occasion, Bufori has created an elegant exhibition pavilion under the name “House of Bufori”, providing a welcoming environment in which visitors can discover the company’s philosophy of traditional craftsmanship, individuality and exclusivity.

The pavilion features a striking two-tone MKIII La Joya finished in silver and dark blue, showcasing the model’s distinctive contemporary-classic styling and meticulous attention to detail. The presentation offers visitors an opportunity to appreciate the car’s handcrafted finishes, luxurious interior appointments and the extensive personalisation possibilities available to Bufori customers.

Inspired by the elegant proportions of luxury automobiles from the 1930s, the MKIII La Joya combines nostalgic design with modern engineering and technology. Its lightweight composite body, incorporating carbon fibre and Kevlar, is complemented by a 2.7-litre V6 engine and a range of advanced comfort, convenience and safety features.

Unlike mass-produced automobiles, every Bufori is individually handcrafted at the company’s manufacturing facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, allowing discerning customers to commission a vehicle that reflects their personal tastes and preferences.

Gerry Khouri, Founder and Managing Director of Bufori, commented:

“Following the tremendous encouragement we received at the New York Motor Show, we are delighted to bring the La Joya to Frankfurt. Europe has a long and distinguished tradition of automotive craftsmanship, and presenting our car here alongside some of the world’s most established manufacturers is an important achievement for Bufori.

Our ambition has always been to create something truly distinctive, an automobile that combines the romance and elegance of the past with the comfort and technology of today. We are proud to demonstrate that a handcrafted luxury motor car of international standing can be designed and manufactured in Malaysia.”

Bufori’s participation in the Frankfurt Motor Show reflects its growing commitment to international markets, particularly Europe, where there is a long-established appreciation for exclusive automobiles, traditional coachbuilding and bespoke craftsmanship.

The company’s presence at the exhibition also provides an opportunity to establish relationships with prospective customers, distributors and industry partners as Bufori continues to develop its international sales network.

With the MkIII La Joya attracting attention following its American debut, the Frankfurt exhibition represents another significant step in establishing Bufori as an independent luxury automobile manufacturer on the world stage.

The 60th International Motor Show (IAA) takes place at Messe Frankfurt from 11 to 21 September 2003, with international press days on 9 and 10 September.

For Bufori, the appearance in Frankfurt is not merely the European introduction of a new automobile, but an opportunity to showcase Malaysian automotive craftsmanship in the heart of Europe’s motor industry.
