SHANGHAI, 18 October 2005 – Malaysian luxury automobile manufacturer Bufori is showcasing its distinctive Bufori MKIII La Joya at the inaugural Top Marques Shanghai, marking another important milestone in the company’s international expansion and its growing presence in Asia’s emerging luxury markets.
Held at the Shanghai International Convention Centre from 18 to 21 October 2005, Top Marques Shanghai brings together an exclusive collection of luxury automobiles, jewellery, watches, yachts and other prestigious lifestyle products, catering to China’s rapidly growing population of affluent consumers.
Originally established in Monaco, Top Marques is making its first appearance outside Monte Carlo, with Shanghai selected as the destination for this prestigious international luxury exhibition.
For the occasion, Bufori is presenting a striking MKIII La Joya finished in brilliant red, complemented by a luxurious cream leather interior. Displayed on an elegant black platform, the distinctive two-seater coupé stands alongside automobiles from some of the world’s most prestigious manufacturers, introducing visitors to Bufori’s unique interpretation of handcrafted luxury motoring.

A second La Joya, finished in deep blue, is also featured in Shanghai, further highlighting the model’s distinctive styling and extensive personalisation possibilities.
Following successful appearances at the New York and Frankfurt International Motor Shows in 2003, the Shanghai exhibition represents another significant step in introducing the Bufori brand to discerning customers around the world.
The Bufori MKIII La Joya, whose name means “The Jewel” in Spanish, combines the graceful proportions and timeless elegance of luxury automobiles from the 1930s with contemporary engineering and advanced technology.
Handcrafted at Bufori’s manufacturing facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the two-seater coupé features a lightweight composite body incorporating carbon fibre and Kevlar, a 2.7-litre V6 powertrain and an extensive range of modern comfort and convenience features.
Unlike conventional mass-produced automobiles, every Bufori is individually built and can be extensively personalised to reflect its owner’s tastes, lifestyle and preferences. From distinctive exterior finishes and fine leather upholstery to bespoke interior appointments, each La Joya is conceived as an individual creation.
Gerry Khouri, Founder and Managing Director of Bufori, commented:
“China is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s most exciting markets for luxury automobiles, and we are delighted to introduce the Bufori La Joya to Shanghai at such a prestigious event.
We believe that true luxury is about individuality, craftsmanship and attention to detail. Every Bufori is built by hand, and every customer has the opportunity to create an automobile that is uniquely their own. These are qualities that we believe will appeal strongly to discerning Chinese customers.

Bufori’s participation at Top Marques Shanghai reflects the company’s recognition of China’s growing importance within the global luxury market, where increasing wealth and a developing appreciation for exclusive international brands are creating new opportunities for specialist manufacturers.
The exhibition also provides Bufori with a valuable platform to engage with prospective customers, distributors and business partners as the company explores opportunities to establish a stronger presence in China.
