Bufori Motor Car Company (M) Sdn Bhd has launched the Bufori Geneva today for the Chinese market. The car was presented to the media during a press conference at the Beijing International Motor Show, one of the biggest in the industry with around 800,000 visitors expected. The event also marks the first official appearance of the Bufori Geneva in Asia.
The BUFORI Geneva, which was introduced at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show, combines cutting-edge technology with a beautifully proportioned body that exudes presence and style. Positioned in the ultra-luxury saloon segment, the BUFORI Geneva is powered by a high-performance 6.4Lt engine. Electrically closing rear-hinged coach doors, an adjustable air suspension and a luxurious interior provide ultimate comfort and well-being.
The exhibited Bufori Geneva was specially hand crafted for Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay, founder of YTL Corporation and one of Malaysia’s most respected businessmen and a passionate car collector. Not able to decide what to present for the birthday of a man who has already achieved so much in life, Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s family commissioned Bufori to build a car that only existed in one’s dreams. The resulting car is the precursor of the Bufori Geneva Luxury Saloon.
Anthony Khouri, Chairman and Co-Founder of BUFORI, said: “We are very excited to launch the Bufori Geneva in China today and particularly proud to showcase Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay’s personal car. The car is a perfect demonstration of the customisation possibilities at Bufori, featuring a Chinese tea set with instant boiling water at the press of a button.”
“We are pleased to offer with the Bufori Geneva a fantastic addition to our model line-up in China. The Beijing motor show is the ideal stage for the launch and we are looking forward to present the car to our distinguished guests” adds Ms. Jenny Wang, General Manager of Jiaochen Bufori (Shanghai) Motor Sales Co., Ltd.
Gerry Khouri, Managing Director and Co-Founder of BUFORI, commented: “The Bufori Geneva represents a genuine alternative to the luxury saloon segment. We have created a car for discerning individuals who are passionate about cars but do not wish to identify themselves with a bland mass-produced luxury vehicle. We anticipate a lot of special requests from sophisticated Chinese customers and our team will do their best to fulfil their expectations.”
Made to order for discerning Chinese individuals
As part of the Bufori philosophy, Chinese customers will be able to completely personalise the Bufori Geneva to their exact requirements. An unlimited choice of interior trim colours and combinations, wood veneers, exterior paint colours and combinations as well as specially requested customisations are available to the discerning Chinese individualist, who is only limited by his imagination.
Mr. Andy Xing, Vice Executive General Manager of Jiaochen Bufori (Shanghai) Motor Sales Co., Ltd., explains: “Our customers appreciate the fine details and workmanship of the Bufori cars and generally spend a lot of time customising their personal vehicles, which becomes like an extension of their unique personalities. They have the opportunity to express their creativity and add their very own personal touch.”
One of the highlights of this luxurious saloon is the rear center console, which can accommodate a coffee machine, mini-bar, fridge and even a fine bone China tea set with instant hot & cold water. Each Bufori Geneva requires in excess of 6,000 man hours to handcraft and customise.
“We are happy to finally introduce the Bufori Geneva to the Chinese market, which has become the most dynamic luxury market on a global scale. Our distributor and customers have been anxiously waiting for the Bufori Geneva and we are convinced that it will surpass their expectations” adds Felix Haller, General Manager of BUFORI.
Expansion plans in China
The participation at the Beijing Motor Show is a milestone in addition to the recent opening of a flagship showroom in Shanghai. Furthermore, Bufori is planning to set-up additional dealerships throughout China, with showrooms to be established in Beijing, Chengdu and Shenzhen.
