EViE – Electric Vehicles in Education
In 2022, Bufori received a compelling request from a Technology teacher at an international school in Kuala Lumpur. The query centered around the prospect of developing an electric race car for students, marking the inception of the EViE project, “Electric Vehicles In Education.”
Recognizing an opportunity to address a pressing issue— the lack of passion among young graduate engineers— Bufori enthusiastically embraced the EViE initiative. This project not only aims to kindle a love for engineering in participating students but also serves as a platform for others to discover their passions in areas like management, marketing, and more, all connected to the exciting realm of the EViE project

The Idea
Envisioned as an engaging extracurricular STEM activity, schools acquire Bufori EViE electric race cars in a disassembled state. Throughout the term, students embark on the challenge of assembling these cars, culminating in thrilling races against fellow participating schools. To ensure fair competition, all EViE cars adhere to standardized specifications.
Students are evaluated not only on their driving skills but also on their proficiency in marketing, car setup, including suspension tuning, and strategic team planning, balancing speed against battery depletion. Additionally, factors such as management, enterprise, charity, and sustainability contribute to the holistic assessment of the teams participating in the EViE program.
EViE Program Benefits
The EViE program is so much more than “just” assembling a set of parts. The EViE project covers a wide array of subjects from Art to Marketing & project management, making it an exciting and motivating educational tool which can become a deciding factor for the choice of school.
Safety
At Bufori, safety takes precedence, and it has been meticulously integrated into every aspect of the EViE car. The TIG-welded stainless steel chassis, complete with a roll-over bar, forms a robust foundation. Surrounding the frame is a durable body that incorporates a styrofoam crash box in the nose cone, designed to absorb impact energy in the event of a collision.
Enhancing safety measures, the EViE cars feature disc brakes, a safety harness, and an external kill switch. This kill switch empowers supervisors to swiftly cut off power to the motor in emergency situations. During operation, drivers are mandated to wear essential safety gear, including helmets and gloves. It’s worth noting that the EViE 2 boasts a maximum speed of approximately 29 km/h, aligning with our commitment to a safe and controlled environment.
Built by automotive experts
In the creation of the EViE cars, Bufori upholds identical production and quality standards as it does for its full-scale luxury vehicles. Boasting over 35 years of automotive history, Bufori stands as an authority in the diverse disciplines of automotive manufacturing, encompassing metal fabrication, welding, composites, mechanical engineering, and more.
The result is a meticulously crafted car, benefitting from the wealth of expertise Bufori brings to the table. The application of these exacting standards ensures that the final product is not just a race car but a durable and high-quality vehicle designed for years of use.
