Kuala Lumpur, 11 November 2024 – Malaysian luxury automobile manufacturer Bufori successfully concluded the inaugural Bufori EViE Cup, held on Saturday, 9 November 2024, at Horizon Beranang Circuit, marking an exciting milestone in the company’s commitment to promoting automotive engineering, technical education and motorsport among young people.
The event brought together enthusiastic student teams from international schools, who competed in a series of challenges designed to test their engineering knowledge, driving skills, teamwork and strategic thinking using the Bufori EViE (Educational Vehicle).
Developed by Bufori as a hands-on automotive education programme, EViE introduces students to the fundamentals of automotive design, engineering and vehicle construction. Through the programme, students gain practical experience in assembling and understanding a functioning vehicle while developing important skills in problem solving, collaboration and project management.
The inaugural competition provided an opportunity for students to take their learning beyond the classroom and experience the excitement and challenges of motorsport in a controlled racing environment.

Learning beyond the classroom
The Bufori EViE Cup was conceived to provide students with a practical introduction to the world of automotive engineering and motorsport, combining education with the excitement of real competition.
Unlike conventional classroom learning, the EViE programme encourages students to apply theoretical knowledge to a tangible engineering project, helping them understand how individual components and systems work together to create a functioning automobile.
By participating in the competition, students were also exposed to the challenges of vehicle preparation, performance optimisation, race strategy and teamwork, gaining valuable experience in an environment where preparation and effective communication are essential.

Gerry Khouri, Founder and Managing Director of Bufori, commented:
“The inaugural Bufori EViE Cup has been a very rewarding experience for everyone involved. Seeing these young students working together, preparing their cars and competing on the circuit is exactly what we hoped to achieve when we developed the EViE programme.
Our objective is not simply to teach students how a car works, but to encourage them to think, solve problems, work as a team and develop a genuine interest in engineering and technology.
What has impressed us most is the enthusiasm and dedication shown by the students and their teachers. There were some excellent performances on the track, but the real achievement is the knowledge and experience that every participant takes away from this event.
This first competition has also provided us with valuable lessons and ideas that will help us further develop the programme in the years ahead.”

A successful foundation for future competitions
The success of the first Bufori EViE Cup demonstrated the potential of combining hands-on engineering education with motorsport to inspire the next generation of engineers, designers and automotive professionals.
Beyond the competitive results, the event was characterised by a strong sense of camaraderie, enthusiasm and sportsmanship among the participating schools.
Bufori expressed its sincere appreciation to all participating students, teachers and supporting personnel, including the marshals, timekeepers, safety and security teams, and everyone whose dedication contributed to the successful organisation of the inaugural competition.
The company also acknowledged the valuable lessons gained from the first edition, which will provide a foundation for the continued development and improvement of the Bufori EViE Cup.
As an independent luxury automobile manufacturer with extensive in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities, Bufori recognises the importance of nurturing technical talent and encouraging young people to explore careers in engineering and automotive technology.
Through initiatives such as the EViE programme, the company aims to share its engineering knowledge and practical manufacturing experience with the next generation while demonstrating that learning can be both challenging and enjoyable.
The inaugural Bufori EViE Cup represented an important first step in this journey, bringing together education, innovation, teamwork and motorsport in an inspiring celebration of young engineering talent.
